Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association Scholarships
Every year the Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. They include four Full-Time Undergraduate Student Awards, one Full-time Graduate Student Award, a Part-Time Undergraduate Student Award, a Part-time Graduate Student Award, an Indigenous Undergraduate Student Award, an Indigenous Graduate Student Award, a Black-identified Undergraduate Student Award, a Black-identified Graduate Student Award, an Undergraduate Award to First Generation Students, an Undergraduate Award to First Generation Students to attend Canadian PSE, and an Undergraduate Student Leadership Award. Students apply for these scholarships via AwardSpring, applications open in the fall. Students are encouraged to create a profile on AwardsSpring before that time. Full-time, Part-time, and Leadership Awards
Purpose
The Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association acknowledges the efforts of students who maintain academic proficiency and demonstrate a commitment to Social Justice and/or Labour Relations, both on- and off-campus.
Amount
- Two (2) awards in the amount of $3,000 each are available for students in full-time degree programs.
- One (1) award in the amount of $2,000 is available for a part-time student in a part-time degree program.
- One (1) Leadership Award.
Indigenous Student Awards
Purpose
Annually, the Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association acknowledges the efforts of Indigenous students who maintain academic proficiency, as well as demonstrate a commitment to Social Justice and/or Labour Relations both on and off-campus.
Amount
- Two (2) scholarships of $3,000 each will be awarded as follows:
- One (1) graduate student will receive $3,000 to assist with educational expenses.
- One (1) undergraduate student will receive $3,000 to assist with educational expenses.
Eligibility
Students are expected to be of Indigenous Ancestry (First Nations, Inuit, Métis, non-Status, Status).
Black-identified Awards
Purpose
Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association (TFA) awards annual scholarships to acknowledge the efforts of students who maintain academic proficiency and demonstrate a commitment to social justice and/or labor relations, both on and/or off campus.
These awards recognize undergraduate and graduate students whose studies are helping them to foster a strong connection with the Black community.
Amount
- Two (2) scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded as follows:
- One (1) graduate student will receive $2,000 to assist with educational expenses.
- One (1) undergraduate student will receive $2,000 to assist with educational expenses.
Eligibility
Applicant must self-identify as Black (including those that identify as Afro-Caribbean or African-Canadian).
First Generation Undergraduate Award
Purpose
Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association (TFA) awards annual scholarships to acknowledge the efforts of students who maintain academic proficiency and demonstrate a commitment to social justice and/or labour relations, both on and/or off campus. This award will support a full-time undergraduate student who is the first in their family to attend university.
Amount
- One (1) undergraduate student will receive $2,000 to assist with educational expenses.

Canadian Post-Secondary Education Award
Purpose
Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association (TFA) awards annual scholarships to acknowledge the efforts of students who maintain academic proficiency and demonstrate a commitment to social justice and/or labour relations, both on and/or off-campus. This award will support a newcomer student who is seeking post-secondary education in Canada for the first time.
Amount
- One (1) undergraduate student will receive $2,000 to assist with educational expenses.
Eligibility
Applicants must have arrived in Canada within the last three years.
