The Equity Committee of the TFA expresses our support and solidarity with the people of Iran and our members who are impacted by the violations committed by the government of Iran, violations which we unequivocally condemn.
Amnesty International recently called on the international community to act urgently to end any further massacres of protesters in Iran. Thousands of protesters have been killed since Dec. 28, 2025, in the deadliest crackdown against the Iranian people in the past 47 years, according to the United Nations. A near-total internet blackout started on Jan. 8, 2026, and continues to this day. It has cut off Iranian protesters from the outside world, out of sight and out of mind.
We recognize the impact of this violence upon our faculty members, students, and researchers who have personal connections to Iran, as well as on prospective Iranian students who wanted to come to TMU to study. We also know that these developments are deeply distressing.
We would like to draw your attention to TMU Iranians, who are not only offering assistance but are also seeking volunteers.
